Newport News infant’s death ruled a homicide, police make arrest

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man is facing charges after a baby boy died in Newport News, police said.

According to the Newport News Police Department, officers were called to Cedar Avenue on the morning of April 5 for reports of an unresponsive child. They found the child, a one-year-old boy, dead at the scene.

An autopsy on the boy’s death determined he suffered from internal trauma, and the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide…
