York-Poquoson County Sheriff’s Office respond to threat at Grafton Bethel Elementary

YORK-POQUOSON COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Grafton Bethel Elementary School in Yorktown was placed on a modified lockdown following a phone threat Friday morning.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported phone threat directed at the school. There was a heavy police presence at the school while deputies and investigators worked with school administrators to ensure the safety of all students and staff.

While deputies conducted a thorough investigation, the school was placed under a “precautionary modified lockdown,” which means entry and exit to the school is restricted while students and staff follow their normal indoor routines…
