CHKD to debut new weapons detection system at Norfolk hospital

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A new weapons detection system will be debuted at CHKD’s main location at 601 Children’s Lane in Norfolk beginning Thursday, July 17.

The weapons system will screen for weapons in the hospital’s main lobby as well as the emergency department.

“Our new weapons detection system will help us ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and staff,” said Ellen Bollinger, CHKD’s safety, security and emergency management director. “We appreciate our community’s support and understanding that weapons should not be brought into our hospital.”…
