Motorists warned to expect delays during upcoming triathlons in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – The Cal Tri Williamsburg Olympic and Cal Tri Williamsburg Sprint Triathlons take place next Sunday, and with it comes a number of roadway closures and park disruptions.

According to James City County Police, the following roadways will see delays on July 20:

  • Jamestown Road
  • Greensprings Road
  • Route 5 (John Tyler Highway)

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and watch for pedestrians and event participants in these areas.

Furthermore, several parks and trails will be impacted by the event. The cycling, running and swimming events are set to be held at Jamestown Event park, which will utilize these trails from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.:

  • Greensprings Interpretive Trail
  • Powhatan Creek Trail
  • Virginia Capital Trail

Meanwhile, the beachfront parks and trails will remain open, but visitors should expect heavy swimming and foot traffic from runners and cyclists…
