The Edge District Welcomes Burgers On The Edge
Williamsburg’s vibrant Edge District is buzzing with excitement as “Burgers on the Edge,” a highly anticipated new restaurant and commissary kitchen, prepares for its grand opening celebration on July 18. Having already quietly opened its doors to the public in late June, this new establishment marks a significant addition to the district’s growing culinary landscape, offering both a fresh dining option and a vital resource for other local food entrepreneurs.
The mastermind behind Burgers on the Edge is Chris Waller, a seasoned chef and owner of the popular “Bald Guys Pies.” Waller’s culinary journey began in childhood, evolving through roles at local favorites like Daddy O’s Pizza and Blue Talon Bistro, and further refined by culinary school and a tenure at the prestigious Williamsburg Inn. After a period in San Diego, Waller returned to Williamsburg in 2023, launching Bald Guys Pies, which quickly outgrew its backyard pizza oven origins.
“It got to the point where we needed a bigger kitchen, and that’s how we came about this space,” Waller explained, highlighting the genesis of the dual-purpose facility in the Edge District. The expansive kitchen, featuring 24 feet of prep tables, is designed to serve not only Burgers on the Edge but also to function as a commissary space available for rent by other aspiring food businesses in the area, fostering a collaborative spirit within the district’s food scene.
The concept for Burgers on the Edge evolved from successful burger pop-ups Waller hosted with Bald Guys Pies. To avoid brand confusion, the burger venture was spun off, allowing Bald Guys Pies to focus solely on its renowned pizzas while giving the new burger concept its own dedicated identity within the Edge District.
Beyond serving up delicious burgers, Burgers on the Edge is committed to community engagement. For its grand opening, the restaurant is launching a “pay-it-forward” program. Patrons can purchase a meal and receive a ticket to write down their order. This ticket can then be claimed by anyone in need, no questions asked, embodying a spirit of generosity that resonates with the community-focused ethos of the Edge District…
