Newport News felon sentenced to 4 years in prison for possessing a firearm

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A felon in Newport News was sentenced to four years in prison for possessing a firearm.

On May 20, 2024, two police officers saw James Earl Hooker, 35, appear to have a handgun in his waistband. Hooker ran away from officers after they attempted to talk to him, in which he was apprehended.
