NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A woman who faced a more $12,000 water bill for a property she no longer lived in is warning others so they can avoid finding themselves in a similar situation.
Melissa Riddick, 35, a single mother of two, never owned her own home. She had hoped to change that and began the process for a loan pre-approval in early 2024.
“And I pull my credit report and there was a balance for $12,205 from Norfolk Public Utilities,” Riddick said. “And that was alarming for me.”…
