School closures in southeastern Va., northeastern N.C. due to tidal flooding

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Several school districts in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina will be closed Monday, Oct. 13 due to tidal flooding in the area.

Virginia

Gloucester

Gloucester County Public Schools announced a full school closure for Monday, Oct. 13 due to higher-than-expected water levels on the roads.

Northampton

Northampton County Public Schools announced that on Monday, Oct. 13, there will be a Virtual Learning Day for students and 10 month staff.

Poquoson

Poquoson City Public Schools announced that on Monday, Oct. 13, there will be a Virtual Learning Day for all students.

York

Sunday night, York County School Division announced that all schools and offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 13 as a result of tidal flooding. Officials said Tuesday, Oct. 14 will be an A-day for middle and high school students.

North Carolina

Dare County

Dare County Schools announced there will be a Remote Learning Day for students at Cape Hatteras Elementary, Cape Hatteras Secondary and students at Dare Early College for Monday, Oct. 13.
