Man sentenced in connection with James City County road rage shooting

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — A man was recently given two life sentences in connection with a road rage shooting that resulted in a mother and son being shot in James City County.

Joseph Adams, 45, faced 24 charges in court Monday morning, including two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, three counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, five counts of reckless handling of a firearm and several other firearms related charges, in connection with a road rage incident on Oct. 5, 2024.

The shooting, which led to life-threatening injuries to the mother and non life-threatening injuries to the son, was said to have taken place just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Centerville Road and Powhatan Secondary. The victim was then able to drive to the intersection of Monticello Avenue and Greensprings Plantation Drive, where first responders started lifesaving medical treatment.
