Hampton Fire and Rescue save driver after medical scare on I-64

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Crews with Hampton Fire and Rescue were able to save a driver after a medical scare on I-64 Friday morning, Virginia State Police said.

According to officials, around 6:15 a.m., troopers were dispatched to I-64 eastbound near Mercury Boulevard for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Prior to VSP’s arrival to the scene, crews with Hampton Fire and Rescue were able to locate an unconscious man who was slumped over the steering wheel. Shortly afterwards, crews were able to determine that the driver’s blood glucose level was below 30, which indicated diabetic shock, police said…
