Newport News police seek suspect in car break-in and credit card theft

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect in a car break-in and theft.

Police said they were called to Happy Smoke at 11109 Jefferson Avenue on Sept. 22 for a report of credit card fraud.

The victim reported that her vehicle had been broken into overnight, and her credit cards and personal property were stolen. The suspect subsequently crossed the street and tried to use the stolen cards at Happy Smoke to purchase merchandise. The store manager confirmed the transaction attempt.
