Man charged with first-degree murder in 2022 NN shooting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A man faces first-degree murder charges in connection to a nearly three-year-old homicide case, Newport News Police said Friday.

Michael Tavon Moore, 33, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and a probation violation on a felony offense in connection to the shooting death of James Curtis Jones, 32.

Around 8:34 p.m. Dec. 7, 2022, officers responded to the 2100 block of Oak Avenue for a ShotSpotter activation, according to Newport News Police, who said officers found a man outside a home in the 1300 block of Hampton Drive suffering from multiple gunshot wounds…
