Deputies arrest man for narcotics possession in Mathews County

MATHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — Deputies have arrested a man for narcotics possession after attempting to serve him a warrant, according to the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office.

On Nov. 28, deputies attempted to serve a warrant at two addresses in Mathews County. At one of the locations, deputies were told the man could be found at where he works. Deputies met with employees at Southwind Pizza, who said the man was at the back of the restaurant. Management and deputies found no one there. Deputies then saw a man hiding behind a shed. He ran off, but a deputy arrested him.

Deputies arrested Steven Rolfe Pritchett Jr., 37, of Mathews. Recovered drug evidence is being submitted to the Department of Forensic Science for analysis of suspected fentanyl. Pritchett also told police where he tossed a red bag containing methamphetamines…
