Newport News goes cashless: Community centers shift to digital payments in 2026

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Newport News Parks & Recreation will transition to a cashless payment system at its community centers beginning Thursday, Jan. 1.

According to the department, cash will no longer be accepted for payments at Parks & Recreation community centers. Instead, patrons will be able to pay using debit or credit cards, mobile wallets such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, online payments, and checks or money orders.
