YORKTOWN, Va. ( WAVY) — A new seasonal giving initiative aimed at helping families facing housing instability and emergency transitions is gaining regional support across the the Virginia Peninsula.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Krystyn Reid and United Way of the Virginia Peninsula have launched A Way Home, a winter outreach effort that runs from Dec. 1 through Jan. 1. The initiative has expanded to include the commonwealth’s attorneys of Hampton, Williamsburg and Newport News.
The program supports families experiencing housing instability, domestic violence or other urgent circumstances during the winter months. A community launch was held on Black Friday, encouraging residents to “shop with compassion” as they begin holiday purchases…
