Donna Davis: Listen to the Musick

Washington musician Adam Musick said he had two dreams in life: One was to play music for a living and the other was to raise food, living off the land. He has done both, and his relaxed performance style and easy-going engagement with audiences convey a comfort in one’s own skin that fulfillment of dreams likely brings. The path that brought him to Washington was circuitous, but Musick describes it as serendipitous.

Being a musician with a last name of “Musick,” he’s bound to know a thing or two about happy coincidences.

“I grew up in the southwestern part of Virginia, in a little town called Abingdon,” Musick said. “Both of my parents are musicians. Not by profession, although my mom was a professional actress and a singer. My dad was a chiropractor, but they’re very musical people. So I grew up around music.”…
