2 arrested in Newport News shooting that injured 17-year-old

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A teenager is recovering, and two men have been arrested following a shooting last week in Newport News, according to police.

The Newport News Police Department said officers were called to the 800 block of 31st Street around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, after receiving a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later listed in stable condition.

Police said a short time after the shooting, an adult man walked into a Hampton hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators later determined his injury was also connected to the shooting on 31st Street…
