HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — Cars lined up before sunrise in the Hampton Coliseum parking lot Wednesday for a monthly mobile food distribution sponsored by Virginia Peninsula Foodbank.

Volunteers with the foodbank bundled up trying to keep warm while loading vehicles with food to families in need.
“A lot of people have been coming, not just because of the shutdown,” said Nicole Sanders, food pantry coordinator with the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank. “The holidays, kids being out of school and just being able to get that that extra to sustain them throughout the month. You know, so we’re just having to do it.”
The Foodbank’s mobile pantry comes to this location once per month and brings with them enough groceries to feed up to 250 families. With the threat of a winter storm heading our way this weekend, this food drive will help them stock up in case the storm keeps them from getting to the grocery store…
