WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia — Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed by police after a stabbing outside a Williamsburg-area store earlier this week.
The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said Stephen Thomas Ball, 33, of Newport, North Carolina, was the offender in the Jan. 28 incident at Ross Dress for Less and the subsequent confrontation with police inside a nearby Home Depot.
Deputies were called around 3:25 p.m. to the Ross Dress for Less in the 6700 block of Mooretown Road in the Williamsburg area of York County. When they arrived, deputies learned a man had reportedly stabbed a woman just outside the store before fleeing to the Home Depot next door…
