CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY)– Police in Chesapeake have arrested a man in connection to the 2024 murder of his nephew.
According to police, 46-year-old Dannel Hill is accused of murdering 32-year-old Donte Parrish in December 2024. Chesapeake police confirmed Hill is the uncle of the victim.
Chesapeake Police officers were called to the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail on December 15, 2024 in reference to a body found in the water along the shoreline of the park entrance. When Chesapeake Police Underwater Search and Rescue Team retrieved the body from the water, it was determined the victim had been shot.

Hill was taken into custody on January 28. He faces the following charges:
- First Degree Murder
- Firearm use in Commission of a Felony- First Degree
Hill is currently being held in Chesapeake City Jail…
