HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Several school divisions and local governments have announced delays for Thursday, Feb. 5 due to possible winter weather overnight.
Here’s a list of closings and delays for Thursday, Feb. 5:
Chesapeake
Chesapeake Public Schools will open on a two-hour delay. Chesapeake city facilities will delay opening until 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5. Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and the Chesapeake Circuit Court will also open at 10 a.m. Thursday. Trash collection will take place as conditions allow.
Isle of Wight County Schools
Isle of Wight County Schools are currently open for Thursday, Feb. 5. However, it is closely monitoring the winter weather advisory in effect from 6 p.m. Wednesday through 4 a.m. Thursday and said a decision could be made late Wednesday or early Thursday morning. Texts and email alerts will go out right away, but it will not call anyone before 5 a.m.
Norfolk
Norfolk Public Schools and administrative offices will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, Feb. 5. Essential personnel and the NPS nutritional staff should report on time.
Portsmouth
Portsmouth Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, Feb. 5. Portsmouth city offices will open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 5.
Southampton County
Southampton County Public Schools and central offices will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, Feb. 5.
Virginia Beach
Virginia Beach City Public Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, Feb. 5.
North Carolina
Dare County
Dare County Schools north of Oregon Inlet will operate on a one-hour delay. There will be a regular schedule for Hatteras schools.
Currituck County
Currituck County Schools will operate on a two-hour delay schedule Thursday, Feb. 5. Breakfast will be available for all students, but morning YMCA Care will not be available.
Camden County
Camden County Schools will oeprate on a regular schedule Thursday, Feb. 5.
Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County
Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools will opeate on a three-hour delay Thursday, Feb. 5 due to the possibility of snow and sleet accumulation overnight.
Gates County
Gates County Schools will operate on a regular schedule Thursday, Feb. 5, though it is closely monitoring weather conditions.
Hertford County
Hertford County Public Schools will operate on a remote learning day for students and staff Thursday, Feb. 5.
Northampton County (NC)
Northampton County (NC) Schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, Feb. 5.
Perquimans County
Perquimans County Schools will operate on a regular schedule Thursday, Feb. 5.
