Newport News man accused in Roanoke Co. bank robbery

MARION, Va. (WAVY) – U.S. Marshals arrested a 43-year-old Newport News man in connection with a bank robbery in Roanoke County. Christopher Brian Havens was taken into custody in Marion, Va., Wednesday evening, according to an update from the Roanoke County Police Department.

The robbery took place at approximately 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Member One Federal Credit Union on Electric Road. Roanoke County Police reported that no injuries occurred and no weapon was displayed during the incident.

Investigators identified Havens using security footage from the credit union. The footage showed a white male suspect approximately five feet 10 inches tall with a heavy salt-and-pepper beard and glasses. During the robbery, he was seen wearing a Vans-branded baseball cap, a long-sleeve button-up shirt and jeans.

The Roanoke County Police Department received assistance in the search and arrest from the Town of Marion Police Department, the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Marshals. Officials also expressed gratitude to media partners and citizens for their help in locating Havens…
