VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A family is mourning after a deadly crash on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Sunday. Officials with the CBBT identified the driver of a tractor-trailer that went over the bridge as 61-year-old Ronnie Andrews of Robersonville, North Carolina.
The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes. Authorities say Andrews was driving a truck owned by Perdue at the time of the incident.
The U.S. Coast Guard, the Virginia Beach Marine Rescue Team, and Crofton Diving of Portsmouth all assisted in recovering Andrews’ body and the tractor-trailer from the water. The investigation into what led up to the crash remains ongoing.
