NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Thousands of gallons of fuel spilled into the James River in Newport News on Friday, according to a Huntington Ingalls Industries representative.
According to Newport News shipbuilders, a fuel spill was identified during a JP5 fuel load transfer from a Navy barge to the John F. Kennedy (CVN 79) at around 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13.
