Fire mini-grant to benefit community, WVFD

A fire mini-grant from the Virginia Department of Fire Programs will be aiding the Windsor community by helping the Windsor Volunteer Fire Department (WVFD) purchase new equipment, enabling it to fight fires with more effectiveness and efficiency.

The Windsor Town Council voted 6-0 on Feb. 10 to adopt a resolution appropriating the sum of $9,427.65 from the grant to the town’s General Fund Operating Budget for fiscal year 2025-26 for the Fire Department Grant line item.

Windsor Treasurer Cheryl McClanahan presented the resolution to the council, and added, “Just to let you know, this is actually money that we received, thank you to (Councilman) Walter (Bernacki), and is going to go down to the fire department.”…
