NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man was sentenced to eight years in prison for a June 2024 fatal shooting at a Norfolk Cook Out drive-thru.
The sentence handed down to Michael Parker Friday came after a judge heard emotional testimony from the families of both the victim, Jason Allred, and Parker, with a surveillance video, a rap music video and victim impact statements shaping how the judge ultimately ruled. Two charges of using a firearm in the commission of a felony were nolle prossed.
Parker had been charged with second-degree murder, but he pleaded guilty to an amended charge of voluntary manslaughter. He received a 10-year sentence on the amended charge, with five years suspended…
