Former NNPD officer faces rape charge

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A now former Newport News Police officer has been charged with rape in Newport News, the city said Wednesday.

Raheem Askew, 36, a former sworn officer with Newport News Police, had been hired in 2023 but is no longer employed with the department but is now being held in the Newport News City Jail.
