CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake City Council unanimously voted against a proposed pay increase Tuesday for the mayor and council members.
The mayor currently makes $27,000 annually while members of City Council make $25,000 annually.
Three potential salary adjustments were presented. The first option would have increased the mayor’s salary to $40,500 and council members’ salary to $37,500.
