YPSO: Suspicious package unfounded following investigation at James York Plaza

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) — The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office says a suspicious package was not explosive following an investigation Thursday morning.

YPSO was notified of the suspicious package at the James York Plaza Shopping Center, in the 600 block of Merrimac Trail, just before 9 a.m. Multiple agencies responded to this incident.

When deputies arrived on-scene, they established a perimeter around the location, and quickly located the individual that matched the description provided. That individual was taken into custody. Residents were told to avoid the area.
