Machicomoco State Park has adopted its first master plan

RICHMOND, Va. — The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation has completed a master plan for Machicomoco State Park located in Gloucester County, VA. After going through the master planning process that included evaluating park resources, collecting park data, holding public meetings, and getting feedback from park visitors, the plan has been adopted and will be implemented in phases.

The purpose of a master plan is to set forth a clear vision for the park, and to guide both its future management and development. This plan addresses visitor needs and reflects the current context of the park in the local community, region and within the Virginia State Parks system. The plan includes the phased development and staffing plans based on current and projected needs over the next 30 years.
