Neighbors report gruesome injuries to cats from suspected traps in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Residents in a Newport News neighborhood say several cats have been severely injured or killed in recent weeks by what they believe are foothold traps placed throughout the community.

The incidents have been reported in the Colony Pines neighborhood near Jouett Drive, where neighbors say at least two cats have been euthanized after suffering serious injuries consistent with trapping devices.

“Several cats have now had to be euthanized, many cats being seen with terrible injuries from traps set out in this Colony Pines neighborhood,” said Auburn Bachand. She added that neighbors were offering a $500 reward for information leading to the person responsible…
