HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Chesapeake Bay has one more artificial reef after the Virginia Marine Resources Commission successfully deployed a new vessel this month.
The Freya was donated by the Mathews Maritime Foundation and later placed in the southeast quadrant of the Windmill Point Reef April 10. That’s when it took one last ride in the Chesapeake Bay before sinking into its new home, 27 feet below the surface.
