HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY)– An investigation is underway after a vandalism occurred at a Jewish cemetery in Hampton.
In a statement, Jewish Peninsula officials say the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula has been vandalized with headstones toppled disturbing the sacred resting place of loved ones.
“This is not merely damage to property.” officials said “It is a sacred obligation, and one that our united Jewish community takes with the utmost seriousness. We are deeply grateful to the Jewish Cemetery who is entrusted with this holy work and the dedicated volunteers who care for it.”
