HAMPTON, Va. — Another traffic shift is scheduled this week along Interstate 64 as construction continues on the Hampton Roads Express Lanes (HREL) project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
The traffic shift could begin as early as Monday on I-64 west near Hampton Roads Center Parkway. Crews will reduce the interstate from four lanes to three while work is underway, and traffic will be shifted outward during the first phase of construction.
To set up the new traffic pattern, VDOT plans overnight closures of the Hampton Roads Center Parkway east loop on-ramp on Monday and Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. A detour will be posted near the ramp…
