Virginia Zoo staff making sure animals stay cool during extreme heat warning

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — As Hampton Roads continues to experience high temperatures, residents are not the only ones that need to cool off. That’s why the folks at the Virginia Zoo are making sure all our animal friends stay cool in the summer heat.

With Hampton Roads currently under an extreme heat warning, representatives at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk say they’ve been feeling the high temperatures.

“It has been very hot, as we all know,” said zoo marketing and digital specialist Kirstin Pendleton. “As soon as you step outside, you can feel that heat. We’re feeling it here. The animals, the keepers, guests, everyone’s feeling it.”…
