Large-scale immersive art installation to temporarily open at Mount Trashmore Park

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A temporary public art installation will be opening in Mount Trashmore Park in October.

Beginning Oct. 17, Sanctuary by Australian creative team Skunk Control will be on view in the southeast corner of the park through Dec. 16. The installation is a large-scale outdoor art experience inspired by the wonder and complexity of the natural world, according to a release.

Presented by the Virginia Beach Cultural Affairs Department, Sanctuary will consist of kinetic flowers standing more than 17 feet high, moving and singing birds, more than 1,300 butterflies and other imaginative forms…
