NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News Waterworks is continuing to ask residents throughout the service area to voluntarily conserve water.
While recent rainfall has provided slight relief, the utility company is still closely monitoring conditions and managing regional water supply to ensure reliable, high-quality drinking water is accessible for the community.
To help, Newport News Waterworks recommend making a few simple choices each day:
- Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
- Check faucets, toilets, and outdoor fixtures for leaks and make repairs promptly.
- Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
- Limit unnecessary outdoor water use.
- Use a broom instead of a hose to clean driveways and sidewalks.
- When watering is necessary, water during the cooler morning or evening hours to reduce evaporation.
“Small changes across thousands of homes and businesses can make a meaningful difference,” a statement read. “Newport News Waterworks appreciates our customers for doing their part to use water wisely. By conserving today, we help protect our shared water resources and maintain a reliable water supply for our entire region.”…
