City allows See Me Flags to return to Norfolk intersection

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — See Me Flags have returned to one busy Norfolk intersection after 10 On Your Side reported the flags had been removed earlier this month.

Dangerous Norfolk intersection raises concern about pedestrian crossing

Residents in Norfolk say it’s nearly impossible to cross the busy Lafayette Boulevard/Orleans Circle intersection after a safety method they were using to cross has been taken away.

See Me Flags are a crosswalk safety system in which flags are set up on the poles, allowing pedestrians to cross the street with the flag in hand.

After the story aired, neighbors said the city allowed the flags to be put back up. They are now positioned on the crossing pole. Those who live near the intersection say they will continue to use them to cross the busy street.

Those that use the flags are asked to return them to the bins when they are finished.
