NEWPORT NEWS — Police are investigating a shooting that happened Tuesday in which a 21-year-old man was fatally shot.
Around 3:31 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the zero block of Traverse Road, which is the location of a group of apartments off J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church. That’s according to a news release from the department.
After officers arrived, they found a man who was suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital.
Wednesday, the man — identified Friday as Amari Maxwell, 21 — died of his injuries.
