Chesapeake senior deputy dies after battle with cancer

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A senior deputy who had recently retired from the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office died Sunday after a battle with cancer, the sheriff’s office said.

Orvid O. Stimpson Sr. had served the Chesapeake Sheriff’s Office for 13 years before retiring earlier this month, the sheriff’s office said.

“His unwavering commitment to his family and his passion for serving the community will never be forgotten,” the sheriff’s office said. “There are simply no words to express the depth of this loss. Our sincerest condolences go out to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
