620-pound HVAC system stolen from Virginia Beach business

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — It was a hefty and uncool theft for a Virginia Beach business.

A 620-pound HVAC system was stolen from Studio Center in Virginia Beach last Thursday morning, when at least one, possibly more, thieves in the night showed up at the business in a van and pulling a modified boat trailer. When they left, they had placed the HVAC, valued at around $12,500, on the trailer and went into the night.

“So, somebody professionally cut the power,” said Studio Center CEO Woody Prettyman. “They disconnected the wires, so this is a professional job. The people that did this knew what they were doing. They shut off the circuit. They did this without any issue because they neatly and cleanly disconnected the ductwork and the piping, and they removed the 620-pound unit.”
