Isle of Wight school lockdown lifted after threat call investigation

CARROLLTON, Va. — An Isle of Wight elementary school was on lockdown for about an hour after they received “a call reporting a threat to the school.” Isle of Wight Sheriff’s deputies are on the scene sweeping the school out of an abundance of caution.

Carrollton Elementary School officials sent a letter to families just before 3 p.m. that said the following:

This afternoon Carrollton Elementary received a call reporting a threat to the school. Administration contacted the Sheriff’s Office who quickly dispatched numerous officers to the site. The school is currently on lockdown and, out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement will be conducting a sweep of the building using canine detection dogs.
