SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — One hundred-sixty years after the atrocity of slavery, a Black man owns a Main Street museum in Suffolk that depicts a different type of bondage.
Amar Skinner knows firsthand — he spent 10 years and ten months behind bars for murder. “I survived the 90s when a lot of them didn’t,” Skinner said. “Number one, I believed in myself even when I was out there doing negative things in society. I always believed in myself no matter what I was doing.”
