CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — The parents of Nicholas Rizzotti are in mourning after a motorcycle crash Saturday claimed the life of their 21-year-old son. The mother said her son was rushed to the same hospital where she works, and where he later died.
Fatal crash involving motorcyclist on Virginia Beach Blvd.
Rizzotti’s parents said the days following Saturday’s crash have been very hard on the family. “He told me 100 times Friday how much he loved me and just kept calling me mama over and over again,” said Nicholas Rizzotti’s mother, Jennifer Rizzotti. “He kept telling me he could never live without me and then Saturday this happened.”It’s a phone call no parent wants to get. “The lady said, ‘Your son was in a really bad accident,’ and I said, ‘Was he OK,’ and she says, ‘Sit down,’ and I said, ‘Tell me what it is,’ and she says he passed away,” said Nicholas Rizzotti’s father, Marc Rizzotti. Friends and family took time to remember Nicholas Rizzotti Monday and said he was full of life and loved adventure.“He’s been riding since he was little,” his mother said. “He had a mini bike [and] a few four wheelers.”Riding was his hobby. That’s why news of the crash came as a shock to those who knew him best.
The investigation into the incident indicated Rizzotti was speeding westbound on Virginia Beach Boulevard, where he went through a red light before he hit a car. Police said that driver suffered minor injuries. The crash has hit Nicholas’ friends hard.“They are all going to do one last ride and then everybody’s gonna put their bikes up for sale,” his mother said. “And they said they don’t wanna ride anymore.”His helmet from the crash is all that’s left from Rizzotti’s last ride. His family said they will hold on to it, and their memories of Nicholas, forever. “Nicky — I love him so much, it’s never going to be the same,” his sister Gabriella Rizzotti said.
