CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — A man who had escaped from the Chesapeake City Jail Friday has since been caught, police said.
According to police in Chesapeake, 18-year-old Justin Kennedy was arrested 6:30 p.m. Friday for felony domestic assault. They said Kennedy was at the Chesapeake City Jail after his arrest when he allegedly ran off during a change of custody between police and jail deputies.
Although he was inside the city jail at the time of his escape, police said Kennedy was technically still in the custody of Chesapeake Police, as he had not been officially turned over to jail deputies, meaning he was not officially in the sheriff department’s custody.
Police said he was taken back into custody Friday night…
