Retailer announces a wave of openings across 8 states
Trader Joe’s wrapped up the 2025 calendar year by breaking ground on seven new locations in communities from coast to coast this December, with an eighth opening still in the pipeline.
The Buffalo suburb of Williamsville, N.Y., threw wide the doors of its first Trader Joe’s at 5017 Transit Road on Dec. 12. The second location in the larger Buffalo-Niagara Falls region, the opening of Williamsville’s Trader Joe’s is a continuation of the specialty grocer’s efforts to expand operations in New York. Most recently, the company announced plans to construct a 921,000-square-foot distribution center on Long Island.
Six other stores celebrated their grand openings this month:
- Columbia, S.C., 275 Harbison Blvd.
- Costa Mesa, Calif., 2170 Harbor Blvd., Ste 100
- Shelton, Conn., 801 Bridgeport Ave.
- Kingwood, Texas, 600 Kingwood Dr.
- Washington, D.C., 5335 Wisconsin Ave. NW
- Melbourne, Fla., 21 Town Center Ave., Ste 101
Virginia Beach, Va., is also welcoming a new Trader Joe’s location at 220 Constitution Drive. While the date and time of its grand opening hasn’t been confirmed, eager visitors can expect to see the new store up and running later this month or in early 2026. The specialty grocer also emphasized its commitment to feeding the Virginia Beach community through its Neighborhood Shares program, which donates 100% of unsold-but-usable products to local non-profits…
