VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – When temperatures drop outdoors, homeowners turn up the heat inside, and that’s when the Virginia Beach Fire Department says it begins to receive an increase in calls.
The Virginia Beach Fire Department said a lot of winter fires are heat-related. The fire department said when people keep the space heaters too close to combustibles, forget to check the general maintenance of their AC unit, or have an unclean fireplace, it can start house fires.
