Norfolk School Board member pleads guilty to DWI

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Adale Martin, in her second term as a member of the Norfolk School Board, pleaded guilty Monday to DWI in Newport News General District Court.

Court documents show Martin, 49, was observed by police shortly after 6 p.m. Sept. 28 on Jefferson Avenue near Oyster Point.

Police say when they saw Martin in a black Mercedes, she nearly collided with another vehicle, put the vehicle in reverse in the middle of Jefferson Avenue, and then made an erratic left turn into another lane. Police pulled Martin over in a nearby Wawa, where the officer smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverages…
