VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — City Council has given its initial blessing to transfer the land of First Tee Golf Club to the YMCA of South Hampton Roads.
The nonprofit, which serves to teach youth the game of golf with a life skills, has operated on nearly 80 acres of land just north of Princess Anne since 1997, according to a briefing from Virginia Beach Deputy City Manager Amanda Jarratt. There is a nine-hole golf course, clubhouse and driving range.
Recently, the YMCA, which currently subleases the city-owned land from the Virginia Beach Development Authority, requested to either extend their long-term lease or take title of the property. The current lease runs through 2037…
