Portsmouth man faces felony charges following woman’s fatal fall from balcony

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A Portsmouth man is facing multiple felony charges following the death of a woman who fell from a fourth-story balcony last Thursday.

Police said they were called to 1100 block of London Boulevard around 3 a.m. and found an unresponsive woman with “multiple injuries.” Authorities said Leonard Gorham Sr. is accused of holding the victim, Camille Small, against her will shortly before her death.

Court records reveal that an off-duty Portsmouth police detective was awakened by the sound of a woman screaming, reportedly shouting, “Help me, somebody help me.” The detective immediately contacted the police and went outside, where the detective discovered Small on the ground below the balcony…
